A native of Boston, MA, Nick began his professional career in New York City following graduation from Bates College with a BA in Economics. He also holds a dual Masters of Fine Arts degree in both production and set design from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Upon completion of his studies, Nick became one of the youngest members to be accepted into the United Scenic Artists, Local 829.

Nick recently finished a run as a set designer for CBS's Guiding Light, where he was responsible for managing the design, decoration and installation for the Emmy-award-winning soap opera. Prior to joining CBS, Nick served as the lead set decorator on Food Detectives, hosted by Ted Allen, for the Food Network. Other television clients include ABC Primetime and CNN.

Nick's most recent film credits include the feature Phoebe in Wonderland, staring Felicity Huffman and Bill Pullman. Prior to that, Nick worked alongside Director Leslie Shearing on her feature film, Motherhead.

When not behind the camera or designing for Board & Batten, Nick can be found at the park enjoying time with his partner Brian and their two dogs, Riley and Baxter.

Sarah came to design by way of English and art studies at Kenyon College. She completed graduate studies at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where she received an MFA in set and production design. Upon graduation, she became a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829.

Sarah's television credits include the art direction of an ABC primetime series, a CNBC pilot, and, currently, The Today Show on NBC. She's also worked extensively in film and on stage.

Originally from Los Angeles, Sarah loves limes, seltzer and the sun. She lives in New York City with her husband Andy Pratt, their baby son Donovan, and their two cats.

Akiko Nishijima-Rotch

Associate Designer

Akiko, a Tokyo native, now splits her time between Alaska and New York City. Akiko holds two master's degrees, one in Interior and Architectural Lighting from Parsons School of Design, and another from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in set design.

She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Board & Batten, from her window designs for Harry Winston to more than twenty theater and opera sets seen both in the US and abroad.

In her down time, Akiko enjoys traveling with her husband Art.
